Listening to Django play
Jazz on a winter's day
Snow on the snowy ground
Wind blowing it round and round
How will it all unfold?
How can lead turn to gold?
Why are we here?
Why do we disappear?

I know my thoughts are blue
Each time I think of you
I light up a cigarette
Just trying to forget
Out on the avenue
I see the human zoo
Nothing to change
Nothing to rearrange

But in dreams I see the sunlight
So I sleep most of the day
It's a better world to my sight
That's where I like to make my way
That's where I wish that I could stay

But I come hurtling back
To this 'I'm alright Jack'
World of a million sins
And Grappelli's violins
I'm running out of time
Can't find no words that rhyme
Happy the man
Who does as best he can

13. Happy The Man
(McGowan) Quite sad melody on this happy song... whatever, but the guitar playing is like from a pro's hands. Great violins and pianos also. If this is odd in the first time, it surely will grow on everyone in the future times. -- Jore

I never realized the juxtaposition of the title and the melody before – but Jore's right. I'm happy with how this turned out – even my mandolin playing sounds OK –Davy
